Kindle Book Deals: Is There A Right Time? When To Make Your Move

Kindle book deals are regularly searched for by avid readers who love a bargain. Is there a ‘right time’ to launch a Kindle book deal? How can you best share the news? Here are my thoughts on the topic.

Kindle book deals are regularly searched for by avid readers who love a bargain. Is there a ‘right time’ to launch a Kindle book deal? How can you best share the news? If you do launch Kindle book offers, how do you know people are engaging with the campaign?

There are many ways to best share news of your latest Kindle book deals. As an author, you can:

  • Share the offer on social media,
  • Run a paid ad campaign,
  • Compose a blog to let subscribers know,
  • Use email marketing techniques,
  • And much more.

The world out there is somewhat desensitised to the multitude of offers and deals that companies share daily. The fact that the majority of emails sent out to us from businesses regularly end up in the junk folder goes to show how little we pay attention to such a direct approach.

As I set out to confirm the publication of Anna’s Awakening in the coming days, I wanted to take some time to look at the various ways to publicise any offers we attach to our books. I know there are several authors online who are about to launch their next novels, and I thought I would include some tips in a blog for my writing peers and friends online.

Kindle Book Deals: Social Media

The most accessible option we all have to promote our Kindle book deals is that of social media. I previously wrote a blog about how authors can use social media in 2020. Here, I wanted to share the pros and cons of such a medium to interact with fellow authors and fans of our writing. However, there is no doubt that social media is excellent for promoting the Kindle book offers we create to share our work with potential readers.

When I started on social media, I had little knowledge about how to promote Inside Iris. The idea of running organic and paid ads to promote Kindle book deals over such mammoth social media platforms, like FacebookTwitterInstagram, and LinkedIn was terrifying for me.

I was faced with the worry that I would not do it right or, even worse, waste money by running paid ads to generate clicks, leads and sales. Being someone who can be anxious at times, I got somewhat obsessive about checking if ads were engaging those I targeted or whether I was spending too much money.

When we use social media, we need to ensure:

  • Graphics are clear,
  • Offers are clearly stated,
  • We don’t bombard followers,
  • We use appropriate hashtags, and,
  • Include links in the proper place.

By researching social media best practice for classes I teach, I hope to utilise these when it comes to advertising my Kindle book offers in the future. I also hope to put them to use during the launch of Anna’s Awakening in the coming weeks.

Kindle Book Offers: Free Samples

Free samples of the book we are promoting during our Kindle book offer are a way that we can get readers to try before they buy. On my SG Fiction landing page, I have a special offer for people to download and receive the first three chapters of Inside Iris when they join the SG Fiction community.

I also have a series of readings of the first three chapters of Inside Iris on my SG Fiction YouTube channel. As I can record free audio pieces for YouTube, I can offer free samples very quickly for those who search on YouTube. I have also done the same with Anna’s Awakening promotional material, which you can access via the thumbnails throughout this blog.f

Free samples are an excellent way to engage an audience, whether you are an author or run a local business. By getting potential customers or readers to try before they buy, you can interact with them and hopefully start building a professional relationship.

Here are a few ways free samples will benefit both you and your potential readers:

  • Introduces your novel to those who are unfamiliar with your work,
  • Opens up a relationship with who don’t know you,
  • Inspires loyalty with existing readers or subscribers,
  • Expands knowledge about previous books you have written, and,
  • Offers direct attention to your brand as an author or writer.

I love giving samples of my work away for free. It helps to share who I am, and it also allows people to see my work before they consider purchasing it. However, in my Free Kindle Books blog, the idea of always giving away works for free can harm any potential value you may place on a product, like a book.

How have you used free samples to increase awareness of Kindle book deals or offers in the past? Comment below.

Go Premium With Paid Ads?

When researching this topic, I saw a lot of fellow bloggers sharing websites that can offer fantastic reach for your Kindle book deals, but at a premium. As I now work as a content creator, blogger, and copywriter for paying clients, I know all about various paid sites that offer to promote a brand or blog for a premium monthly fee. However, many of us as authors can hardly afford to spend as much as $300 a month for an all-out blast across the internet with our latest Kindle book offers or book launch.

On the other hand, much smaller and medium-sized businesses utilise social media paid advertising to promote offers and deals for their products across a selection of demographics. Those particular social media platforms offer the possibility for you to share your latest Kindle book deals or offers with thousands of people for a relatively small fee.

When I released Inside Iris, I used social media to advertise my website and novel to over a million people. I noticed that:

  • Many people engaged with the adverts,
  • My (old) site got many visitors,
  • My blogs were read a lot,
  • People viewed my adverts and clicked on the links, and,
  • Inside Iris reached respectable heights in the paid Kindle and paperback charts.

There was some limited success, but I’m not a millionaire. If my advertising reached that large amount of people, not everyone bought a book. Therefore, when it comes to using social media to sell Kindle book offers, there is no foolproof method.

How have you used paid or premium ads services online to promote Kindle book deals in the past? Comment below.

As I prepare to launch my second novel, Anna’s Awakening, I know that I will be promoting the book’s launch on Amazon through all possible media. There is no shame in this when we are proud of the work that we compose and wish to share with the world.

I am incredibly proud of Anna’s Awakening, and I can’t wait to hear how the second part of the Iris Trilogy will be received by those who read and loved Inside Iris. Much of the verbal and written praise I have got for my debut novel is excellent, and I know Anna’s Awakening adds perfectly to the story that I want to tell. Look out for the launch date – to be announced in the coming days.

Kindle book deals and offers are an excellent way for us to get people to engage with us as authors and to read and review our books. As we consider whether there is a ‘right time’ to share the Kindle book offers we plan throughout the year, there are certainly better times to share promotions, like holiday times or ahead of an upcoming release. However, there is no ‘right time’ or right method to share Kindle book deals.

As a writer, what has been the best method you have used when promoting a Kindle book offer online? Have you found one way that has worked better than others? Please share your thoughts below and start a discussion that could help fellow authors with their upcoming promotions.

Anna’s Awakening Blurb:

Set two years after Iris’ dramatic escape from The Institute, she lives a secretive but peaceful existence in Scotland. Living at Bowmore Estate, with the Benefactor, Raymond, and the Courier, Kyle, Iris’ young life has changed dramatically.

Since the fall of The Resistance, and the dramatic events at the warehouse, Iris goes through therapy in order to lay to rest some of the ghosts that continue to haunt her. By taking this step, she hopes to begin to put her past behind her.

Throughout her counselling sessions with Clara, Raymond’s niece, Iris decides to claim back her real identity of Anna. With the help of Clara and Kyle, Iris pieces together fragments of her past that were nothing more than dark memories.

As Iris becomes Anna, she learns the truth about her time at The Institute. It is this truth that awakens Anna, lighting a fire within her that changes her forever. Could Anna’s awakening finally bring down The Authorities once and for all?

Anna’s Awakening is the second instalment of The Iris Trilogy – a dystopian, sci-fi thriller that is an intense read for adults and teenagers alike. This young adult novel is packed with enough drama and tension that you will not want to put it down.
